Last Saturday more than 1,400 participants enjoyed their sport at two spectacular events
Another weekend in which the sport shines again on the island with two quality events like the VII Tinajo YouTrail and the IV Bestial Race Lanzarote, competitions that again had a great reception not only by the fans and local athletes, but also by prominent national and international personalities. Such was the success that up to 620 people registered to run the trail in Tinajo and up to 700 to participate in the Bestial Race Lanzarote.
In the main categories, the winners in the 33 km of the Tinajo YouTrail were Rafael Yanez and Silvia Caso; while Jessica Velasco and Azman Mesand won the Bestial Trex 10 km individual obstacle course competition.
The emblematic landscapes of Tinajo, with the Caldera Blanca and the Montañas del Fuego (Fire Mountains) took center stage alongside the elaborate and challenging circuit established in the ever spectacular orography of the south of the island, in the municipality of Yaiza, where one of the best obstacle races of the Canary Islands took place.
Eliecer Sosa and Laureano Sobral, as well as Nayra Noble and Judit Enríquez completed the female and male podium, respectively, in the 33 km category of the Tinajo Youtrail.
The same was true for Tracy Louise, Sara Rivas and Rosa Castellano, medalists in that order in the women’s 14 km course for women, while on the men’s side the standouts were Edwin Camacho, Aithami Brito and Ruymán Martín. Hugo Pérez and Cristina Capitán were the winners of the 8 km category, followed by Inmaculada Bejarano and Marta Bazán, in the women’s category; and Matías Huertas and David Atienza, in the men’s category.
The Tinajo Youtrail has been established in the Canary Islands Mountain Running Championship thanks to the good organization that has always had this event and the beauty of its routes. Runners from all over the archipelago and up to 13 Spanish provinces were this past Saturday enjoying this great trail event.
In Yaiza, the Bestial Race also put the icing on the cake with a great trophy ceremony. Vanessa Fuster and Nazaret Sosa accompanied the aforementioned winner of the Bestial Trex (Elite) of 10 km female; as well as Aissa Benzirar and Manuel Luján, who won the silver and bronze in the men’s category. The Spanish champion, Jessica Velasco, who was participating for the first time in Lanzarote, said she was “very happy” for the victory and stressed that “it has been a very fun experience, although the last obstacle was very long and it was very difficult to overcome it”.
The Lanzarote Bestial Race K10 Xtreme Yaiza 2023 is the third stop of the Bestial Race Series 2023. A test that qualifies in the most important championships worldwide, being the only obstacle race in the Canary Islands with these merits.
Lanzarote is once again the nerve center of the best sport, highlighting and demonstrating at the same time the ability of the island to host events of numerous sporting disciplines, thus maintaining a catalog of offers available to very few tourist destinations.
