A sport that combines open water SWIMs with trail RUNs with the same clothes throughout the race.
It is not a new sporting discipline but it is quite new in Spain and in Lanzarote, where last year it hosted the first edition of Swimrun Lanzarote organised by Fariones Sports Centre. This sporting discipline started in Sweden, on the island of Ötilö, where its first official race took place in 2006. Swimrun continued to grow and became a world championship.
Swimrun is a combination of swimming and running in which there are no pitches but there are water-ground transitions and refreshment stations along their route. Participants must take part in couples (male, female or mixed.) Any stuff used by the participants must be carried on them since the beginning to the end, and it is compulsory that all couples stay tied to each other during the swimrun.
Participants are allowed to carry swimming hand paddles, pullboy or anything that might help to float with a maximum measure of 100×60 cm. and a bag with drinks or food.
