The Galician athlete will be on the starting line of the UltraBike Lanzarote event on 29th and 30th April
After retiring as a professional triathlete just over a year ago, Iván Raña wanted to continue enjoying the sport on his MTB, but now without the pressure of results. After so many years dedicated to the sport with its the three segments, the former three-time Olympian with the Spanish triathlon team and world champion “had lost the stimulus to discover new things”. Thanks to MTB, he has regained those sensations, putting on his bib in races that he had always wanted to participate in, but which were not compatible with his busy schedule.
“Last year I did races that I was really looking forward to. Races like 4 Stage and the UltraBike”
For the MTB events it’s an honour to have Iván Raña on their entry list and Iván is grateful for “the care and affection shown by the organisers and participants” of the events he attends.
“Lanzarote es un sitio que te curte, te va curtiendo. Nuestros días, por ejemplo, de viento, calor, calor, calima… pues salir a rodar por ahí es para mi casi un triunfo más duro que el de Hawaii”
Finally, Raña stresses that “coming to Lanzarote from the mainland or from other parts of Europe to practice any outdoor discipline is a pleasure because in addition to having infrastructure that can complement your training, just being able to wear shorts all year round or training in the midst of the spectacular scenery at every point on the island, makes Lanzarote an ideal destination.”
