We meet Aitana Ramos, a young islander who has won a scholarship to study in the USA thanks to golf
Aitana Ramos has been playing golf on Lanzarote, the island of her birth, since she was 6 years old. Her perseverance and hard work have led her to participate and obtain great results in important competitions that have shown her to be a great promise for golf in Spain. Thanks to her excellent track record in this sport, she has won a scholarship to study in the USA where she will continue to play golf for her university team.
Even tho I have been to many different golf courses all around mainland Spain, I feel there coming here to Lanzarote is a unique experience.
She loves training in Lanzarote because it is “an incredible place with magnificent weather conditions” that allow her to train 365 days a year. The two golf courses on the island are surrounded by volcanoes, a singularity that provides Aitana with “strength and concentration” in a sport in which psychology plays a very important role.
During her career she has had the opportunity to participate in regional and national competitions, achieving excellent results that have helped her to obtain a scholarship to study in the USA and play for her university team.
Every time I see volcanoes around me, I feel the power and strength to keep on playing my game.
She tells us that one of her secrets is to go to the beach with her family or friends after training, a ritual that helps her to relax and come back the next day with the resolve to improve her swing.
Aitana advises golf lovers to come to Lanzarote to practice their sport because “playing here is truly a unique experience”.
Golf is not only physically, but also a psychological sport, so I can concentrate, i’m in peace, I feel connected with the island and the environment that surrounds me.
