For three days, Club La Santa hosted the Spanish Children’s Absolute Summer Championship of the First Division.
Lanzarote, with the help of Club La Santa, hosted the Spanish Children’s Summer Championship in the First Division of Artistic Swimming organised by the host team, Club Deportivo Pingüinos de Arrecife, and the Royal Spanish Swimming Federation.
The facilities of the sports and hotel complex of Lanzarote brought together the best swimmers in the country during a weekend of top national competition that was matched by a large attendance of fans who wanted to be part of this event, which makes history on the island and confirms the capacity, efficiency and potential that exists in Lanzarote to act as a venue for the most demanding events.
As usual, the weather conditions were good for all the participating teams. More than 200 swimmers were able to enjoy the idyllic Lanzarote weather and the excellent facilities of the Club La Santa which were offered to make the competition a success.
This is how the children’s figures started, where Ariadna Benito Da Silva, from Real Canoe CN, took the gold medal, followed by Lily Gualtieri, from the same Madrid team, and Alba Rosal Iglesias, from CN Sabadell.
The CD Pingüinos de Arrecife kicked off the final of the absolute mixed duo, a discipline in which Jordi Cáceres and María Victoria Ruiz, from C. Mediterránea, won; while the silver went to Sergio Castellano and Ciara Rodríguez, from CN Metrople (Gran Canaria); and bronze went to Yaritza Nazaret Felipe and Jeremy Tomás Pérez from CN Las Palmas (Gran Canaria).
Ten different teams took part in the absolute free duo, and the winners were María Bofill and Ane Salaverría (CN Kallinopolis); Natalia Amengual and María del Mar Bauzás (C. Mediterránea) and Mercedes Díaz and Alba García (AD Sincro Retiro), in that order.
On Saturday, the temperature was milder so the athletes could just focus on their work under the water, maintaining the connection with a large crowd of fans who did not stop cheering on the participants.
Of the 24 pairs that qualified for the Spanish Championships, the winner was the duo formed by Ariadna Benito and Lily Gualteri, from Real Canoe CN. Second and third place went to Raquel Gimeno and Alba Rosal, from CN Sabadell; and Paula Marcipar and Judith Simó, from CN Kallipoli, respectively.
The absolute acrobatic routine final was one of the most highly acclaimed, giving a spectacular show in the Club La Santa swimming pool. CN Kallipolis was the club with the highest score, followed by Círculo Mercantil with silver and DN Portugalete with bronze.
Also noteworthy were the 20 groups that participated in teams in the children’s freestyle, whose podium was occupied by CN Sabadell, CN Granollers and Círculo Mercantil.
For their part, CN Sabadel, Real Canoe NC and AD Sincro Retiro were the first three classified, in that order, in the children’s mixed duo.
Then the final stretch of the highest national competition began with a climate of revelry always in keeping with the high degree of concentration of the best Spanish swimmers present there.
The gold in the children’s routine final went to CN Granollers, leaving second place for CN Sabadell and bronze for CN Kallipolis. Meanwhile, in the last modality, the children’s freestyle team, it was the Catalan team of CN Kallipolis who would win first place, followed by Círculo Mercantil and AD Sincro Retiro.
This thus, simultaneously, put an end to the competition and sports festival held at the Lanzarote facilities of Club La Santa, which more than met the expected expectations.
Lanzarote makes history once again and adds another sporting discipline to its already extensive list of awards as a venue where the most demanding athletes find the ideal location where the country’s elite can gather with events with maximum backing.
