Playa Blanca became the epicenter of sport this weekend, as in there the IX Playa Blanca Handbike Tour and the VI Timanfaya Triathlon took place
The Handbike competition brought together participants from 19 different nationalities
At 11.00 am on Saturday morning, the individual time trial started and participants had to race from Salinas de Janubio to Playa Blanca. Jonas Van de Steene was the winner of the race achieving the finishing line in 10 minutes and 32 seconds. The podium was completed by Wolfgang Almer (11.08) and Kim Klüiver Christiansen (11:10). In the women’s category, Nadia Schumacher, the only participant, achieved the finishing line in 14 minutes and 57 seconds.
Jonas Van de Steene, Luis Miguel Marquina, Alexander Gritsch, Wolfgang Almer and Kim Klüiver Christiansen, were the participants who did the highest number of laps, 12 in total.

The Timanfaya Triathlon celebrated its 6th edition under the sun of Playa Blanca. This competition is rising in popularity over the past few years.
This sprint triathlon (750m swimming, 20km cycling and 5km running), was very tight and 6 participants were competing for the first place. Victors Vovrusko was the winner of the VI Timanfaya Triathlon crossing the finishing line after 00.58.40. Víctor Bouzón (00.58.55) achieved the second position and the third step of the podium was for Michael Lavender (00.58.58).
In the women’s category, Sara Pérez crossed the finishing after 01.07.12, almost 5 minutes ahead of second placed Amber Rombaut (01.07.12) ). Delioma González achieved the third position after 01.09.01.
