Anne Haug is the winner for the women’s category in a record time
2018 has just started with many sports events in #LanzaroteESD. For the triathlon and duathlon enthusiasts, Lanzarote International Duathlon has already been established as one of the first events of the season.
172 participants joined this competition on Saturday, January 13, to enjoy the 22nd edition of this sprint duathlon in which each competitor must complete 5km race, 20km bike and 2.5km race.
The Belgian Kenneth Vandendriessche regained his title by reaching the finish line 40 seconds earlier than in 2017 (00.54.49).
“Today I have gone back to my roots. In the past I was a duathlete, in fact a two-time duathlon European champion, so this seems natural to me. The race was very fast, but the bike race was hard and it was very windy “, said Kenneth Vandendriessche.
The Spanish Emilio Aguayo took the second place (00.55.17), followed by León Martín (00.55.40).
In the women’s category, the highest step of the podium was for Anne Haug, followed by María Varo (01.02.25) and Sara Pérez (01.02.36).
